Sunnyvale Monterey Bay

Featured Story
Monterey Bay California
Visiting Beautiful Monterey Bay

Monterey Bay, California lies about 60 miles to the south of San Francisco and the Bay Area. This area of the coast is known for its diverse sea life, its historical sites and the many communities that dot the coast line all the way to the urban Bay Area. Whale watching in Monterey Bay, CA is very popular as is visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium which contains a diverse selection of ocean wildlife including everything from the most beautiful schooling fish to the deadliest of all sharks. The Monterey Bay Area of CA has been recognized for its beauty by the western world since Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo discovered it in 1542.

Monterey Bay, Calif didn’t obtain its present name until the 1600s. The area is home to some of the most striking features near the edge of the continent. Underwater in this bay is located one of the world’s largest ocean canyons. The canyon lays in the center of the bay, off of Moss Landing, one of the landmark destinations in this seaside area. Monterey bay, California is host to numerous other beautiful diversions and it is a popular spot for Bay Area residents to get away from the hustle and the bustle of the city.

The Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary is one of the area’s most visited places. This sanctuary consists of over 5,000 miles of ocean and is one of the principal areas where people go whale watching in Monterey Bay, CA. There are ample other forms of aquatic life to see in this area, as well, including birds, mammals and plants whose rarity and importance merits their protection by way of having this land set aside. Whether it’s at the Monterey Bay aquarium or at the seaside itself, the life to be seen here is diverse and fascinating.
