Sunnyvale Library
In 1908, the Women's Christian Temperance Union created a reading room, and staffed it with volunteers. Over the next century, that reading room grew and became a public library. Today, the library offers a wide variety of public services, including an outreach program for homebound residents, and free Wi-Fi access for library visitors.
The Sunnyvale Public Library Web site provides a wealth of information for Sunnyvale residents. In addition to the online catalogue, the site details programs and services for children and teens. It also offers links to ebooks, podcasts, and videos, and allows patrons to manage their accounts.
The library maintains an active benefactor and promotions program, Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library, which, in 2006, provided over $85,000 to the library. There are also opportunities for patrons to make monetary donations, and to donate books and other materials.
