Dia de los Muertos contest at Mi Pueblo

To mark the traditional Mexican celebration, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Mi Pueblo Food Center is encouraging customers to get creative and paint themselves as La Catrina to participate in the “Mas Catrina” photo contest for a chance to win up to $600.

Customers of the San Jose-based, family-grown Hispanic grocery chain can paint themselves to look like a sugar skull. The entry with the most votes can win $300. A $300 bonus prize is available to those who take the photo in front of a Mi Pueblo Day of the Dead altar.

Participants will have until Nov. 2 to submit their best Catrina selfie through Mi Pueblo’s website, Facebook or Instagram page. After the submission deadline, the general public will vote for the best photo. The La Catrina with the most votes wins.
