SUNNYVALE — A woman who was killed after she and her daughter were hit by a car Sunday has been identified as 56-year-old Sunnyvale resident Michelle Devaurs, according to the Santa Clara County Coroner.

Devaurs and her 21-year-old daughter were on a walk with the young woman’s dog around 1:53 p.m. along Wolfe Road at Fair Oaks Avenue, according to Capt. Jeffrey Hunter.

Devaurs and her daughter were hit by a 32-year-old woman driving a silver Ford Focus, Hunter said.

Devaurs was declared dead at the scene, and her daughter, who suffered major injuries, remains in critical condition at Stanford Hospital. The dog the women were walking was found nearby, uninjured.

Police say drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash, and that the driver stayed on scene has cooperated with investigators. She has not been identified and has not been arrested.

Police added that it also does not appear the woman’s dog was a factor in the collision.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Sunnyvale police Officer Steve Cronin at 408-730-7109.
