A 14-year-old girl told police a man attempted to kidnap her Thursday morning in the area of Morse and Arbor avenues.
Around 8:15 a.m., the teenager walked past a vehicle stopped in the roadway in the 400 block of E. Arbor Avenue in Sunnyvale.
The driver got out of the car and asked her in Spanish if she wanted a ride. The girl declined and kept walking.
Police reported the man then walked toward her and told her in broken English to get into the vehicle. She then ran to an apartment nearby where her aunt lived. According to police, the vehicle was described as a 1990s or early 2000s gold Lincoln four-door sedan. The man was described as Hispanic, 30-35 years old, heavy set, with short black hair and a mustache, and was wearing a black coat. At the time of the incident it was raining heavily.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at 408.730.7120. DPS detectives are actively investigating the case.
