Curious antiques collectors will get to discover what trinkets in their homes are worth at the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum’s first Antique Sale and Appraisal Faire on Aug. 24.
Professional appraisers from Michaan’s Auctions will be at the museum from noon to 4 p.m.
For $20, participants get up to three appraisals, but reservations are almost full.
“We are pretty excited about the whole event, and is it ever shaping up nicely,” said Laura Babcock, museum executive director. “We have just a few unreserved spaces left, and those are in stamps and coins only. I think that proves Sunnyvale is ready for a fun antique appraisal and antique sale day. Who knew what treasures we have in our attics?”
Michaan’s has added appraisers twice in the past month.
Entrance to the event is free. In addition to the appraisal fair, there will be live music, exhibits and free tours of the museum.
There will also be an antique sale, as the museum will be liquidating some treasures from its own inventory.
“The draw, of course, is people bring their treasures, but we hope that people looking for treasures will come to buy as well,” said Jeanine Stanek, museum collections director.

The museum is open year-round. Currently, the museum is featuring an exhibit called “Low Tech to High Tech,” highlighting the changes in technology from calculators to cameras and mimeographs to printers. The exhibit is open through mid-October.
There will be a special Low Tech to High Tech reception on Sept. 7 from 1 to 3:30 p.m., which includes an expanded exhibit, refreshments and special guests.
