SUNNYVALE — A Monday afternoon grass fire burned fencing and foliage but didn’t threaten any nearby homes before being brought under control by crews, according to fire officials.
Sunnyvale fire officials said the blaze was reported at 3:18 p.m. in the greenbelt area between Fairwood Avenue, near Sandia Avenue and the Lawrence Expressway. It burned about 150 feet of fencing to the rear of single-family homes before being brought under control in about 30 minutes.
The area has a trail and is traversed by numerous people every day, and a cause was not immediately apparent. Nobody was injured in the blaze.
