The Sunnyvale City Council will be discussing a variety of topics at its next council meeting on Nov. 25 including how the city will meet Greenhouse Gas reduction targets by 2020 and the establishment of new positions within the city.

A study session will be held in the West Conference Room in Council Chambers beginning at 6 p.m. where council will discuss 2015 Intergovernmental Relations Assignments. The City Council appoints members to a variety of intergovernmental agencies in order to represent the city’s interests and to influence policies and regulations of other agencies.

The council will discuss approving a work plan to achieve the 2020 Greenhouse Gas reduction targets in the recently adopted Climate Action Plan via strategies such as decreasing energy and water consumption.

Council will also vote on amending an ordinance regarding the appeal process for land use projects. The change would create a call for review process that requires a minimum of two Council Members or Planning Commissioners to request City Council or Planning Commission review of a decision; clarify and simplify the appeal process; formalize the current practice of conducting appeals as de novo hearings; and allows an appellant to withdraw their appeal.

The council will vote to amend the Salary Table to add four newly established job classifications and to increase the pay range of the Golf Operations Manager. The new positions include Principal Network Engineer, Principal Design and Construction Operator, Water Pollution Control Plant Control Systems Integrator and Part Time Meter Reader.

Council chambers are located at 456 W. Olive Ave. To view the full agenda visit sunnyvale.ca.gov.
