Commercial burglary–July 9, 9 a.m. Approximately $350 worth of shears, brushes and combs were taken from a salon after an unknown suspect broke the front glass door.

Vehicle burglary–July 7, 11:23 p.m. W. El Camino Real. Two laptop bags and a purse were stolen after an unknown suspect broke a vehicle side window. Contained in the bags were an Apple iPad and a ThinkPad. The purse contained a gold ring. The total value of items taken was $3,310.

Residential burglary–July 7, 9:45 p.m. S. Bernardo Avenue. A resident returned home from vacation to find his home had been burglarized. Jewelry, a Nikon camera, a tablet and surveillance equipment were reported stolen.

Found property–July 6, 9:01 p.m. Chopin Drive. A black Jansport backpack containing clothing and a glass pipe was located. The bag was related to a burglary that had taken place earlier that day. The owner was contacted and the items were returned.

Vehicle burglary–July 6, 8:38 p.m. A Macbook, iPhone charger, passport and $400 in cash were stolen from a car in the Black Angus parking lot. Someone entered the vehicle by unknown means. The total value of items taken was $870.

Graffiti–July 6, 7:56 a.m. Columbia Middle School. Gang-related graffiti was discovered on several buildings and a fence at Columbia Middle School.

Commercial burglary–July 5, 9:43 p.m. Hollenback Avenue. Police received reports of a burglary. Officers determined that an unknown person removed the glass from the door of the business and stole several items before fleeing the scene.

Vandalism–July 5, 12:19 p.m. Bayview Avenue. Gang-related markings were made on the passenger’s side windows and the rear window of a car. The victim reported he had seen his vehicle the night prior and the damage was done when he returned 10 hours later.

Aggravated assault–July 5, 6:09 a.m. Columbia Avenue. DPS interviewed a victim who had been assaulted by a man with a machete-type knife. The victim said the suspect poked his chest and cut his arm with the weapon. DPS personnel located the weapon the next day and eventually arrested the suspect.
