Aggravated assault–Aug. 17, 11:56 p.m. Cottage Grove Terrace. A man was assaulted with a blunt object after being chased by a group of men. The victim was taken to a local hospital after sustaining lacerations to his head.
Highway fire–Aug. 15, 2:41 p.m. Highway 101 and 237. Fire crew personnel from Sunnyvale and Mountain View successfully extinguished a vegetation fire that started after a vehicle burst into flames.
Residential burglary–Aug. 14, 9:30 p.m. Sequoia Drive. An unknown suspect gained access to a residence by forcing open a side door. There was no evidence suggesting that anything was taken from the residence.
Outside assist–Aug. 14, 8:23 a.m. Santa Clara. Two people were arrested after Santa Clara police requested the aid of a Sunnyvale DPS K-9 unit to search for suspects in a felony assault and a vehicle theft.
Commercial burglary–Aug. 13, 6:12 a.m. W. El Camino Real. Someone gained access to a business by breaking a glass door and stole cash.
Commercial burglary–Aug. 11, 7 a.m. Uranium Drive. Copper wiring and tools were stolen from a business after someone forced open a door.
Car crash–Aug. 11, 6:29 a.m. Central Expressway and Bernardo Avenue. Sunnyvale DPS responded to a vehicle that had crashed into a tree. Officers determined that the crash occurred in the city of Mountain View, but DPS aided in stabilizing the car while Mountain View fire personnel extracted someone from the vehicle.
Petty theft–Aug. 11, 1:30 p.m. A GoPro camera, vehicle registration and insurance information were stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The stolen items are valued at approximately $400.
Shoplifting–Aug. 10, 4:43 p.m. E. El Camino Real. Two suspects stole $400 worth of clothing from Walgreens. The suspects reportedly fled in a 2005 black Ford Crown Victoria.
Graffiti–Aug. 10, 1:28 p.m. E. El Camino Real. Red and black spray paint was used to vandalize a parking lot near the rear of Mehrra Jewelers.
Residential burglary–Aug. 10, 12:18 p.m. E. Olive Avenue. A home being prepared for sale was broken into after an unknown suspect turned off the power to the residence and gained access through a bathroom window. Because the house is vacant, most items of value were already removed from the home. The homeowner reported that nothing had been stolen.
Residential burglary–Aug. 9, 1:49 p.m. S. Fair Oaks Avenue. A Public V7 hybrid bicycle valued at approximately $500 was stolen from an enclosed patio area.
Public intoxication–Aug. 9, 1:10 p.m. E. El Camino Real. Officers responded to a report of a man harassing people and urinating on a Safeway building. The man was drinking beer and appeared to be drunk. He was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Found property–Aug. 8, 7:29 p.m. Cumulus Avenue. a resident found live ammunition in a patch of grass. DPS personnel collected the .38 special caliber round and booked it for destruction.
Grand theft–Aug. 8, 6:06 p.m. Fry’s Electronics. A shopping cart full of items including a 3DR Solo Drone worth $1,000 was taken from the store. The suspect is described as an adult white male with black hair. The suspect fled in a white pickup truck.
