‘Maids turn 50

The Santa Clara Aquamaids, founded in 1964, will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a special “look back” on Aug. 30, 7:30 p.m., at the Santa Clara University Mayer Theater. The event will feature an Academy Awards style presentation, featuring the highlights of past achievements and offering recognition to those who have contributed to the success of the organization.

All alumni are invited back to help celebrate the many international and national accomplishments, along with the 10-year reunion of the Olympic team that took bronze in Athens, seven of which were Aquamaids.

Youth volleyball

Registration is now under way for the United States Youth Volleyball League fall season. Players ages 7-15 are eligible for the eight-week league season that will begin in September. Special tourney

The third annual golf tournament to raise funds for the College of Adaptive Arts will be held on Oct. 13 at La Rinconada Country Club. Tee-off is at 9 a.m., followed by a lunch and banquet at 2 p.m. Players must fundraise a minimum of $300 to participate and each foursome will include a special needs golfer.
