SALINAS (BCN)

A 23-year-old Salinas man and gang member convicted in the murders of a 6-year-old boy and a teenager in 2010 has been sentenced to life in prison, the Monterey County District Attorney's Office announced today.

Edmundo "Eddie" Pulido will not be eligible for parole until he has served a minimum of 35 years of incarceration, according to Deputy District Attorney David Rabow.

Judge Pamela Butler imposed the life sentence on Pulido in Superior Court in Salinas on the two counts of murder after listening to impact statements from the families of the two victims, Rabow said.

On March 23, 2010, Pulido was the driver of a car carrying gang members who were shooting at rival gang associates when a bullet fired from his car missed, struck and killed a 6-year-old boy in the boy's home, according to prosecutors.

The murder trial for Berardo Camacho, the man charged as the shooter in the case, is scheduled to begin in March 2015, Rabow said.

On Dec. 16, 2010, Pulido and two other gang members drove to Castroville where witnesses, who later testified at his trial, watched him shoot and slay an 18-year-old male at very close range multiple times, prosecutors said.

Pulido has also been sentenced in connection with two assaults while in the Monterey County Jail, Rabow said.
