Whether within the pages of a good book or via the bike lanes of the region’s neighborhoods, four local libraries are encouraging residents to get out and explore.
The Library 2 Library Bicycle Tour 2014 on Oct. 18–organized by the libraries of San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Mountain View–welcomes eager cyclists to hop on their bikes and ride from library to library for special tours and surprise activities at each stop.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the San Jose Rose Garden Library, families will be welcomed with coffee, snacks and crafts as well as a tour.
At 10:15 a.m., the group will make its way to the Santa Clara City Library for a tour and crafts. The tour will begin at 10:45 a.m.
Cyclists will then pedal to the Sunnyvale Public Library at 11:15 a.m. for crafts and a special performance from the Sour Mash Hug Band. A tour is scheduled for 11:45 a.m.
And finally at 12:15 p.m., the bike tour will end at the Mountain View Library with a library tour at 12:30 p.m.
Participants have the option of joining the group ride or can go at their own pace. Maps of the route will be provided, as will limited edition spoke cards for riders.
Riders are encouraged to bring water bottles as well as bike locks and a lunch.
