Monta Vista, Saratoga, Harker and Cupertino will be among the host teams for the second annual Battle of the Bay girls high school tennis invitational Oct. 2-3. Many of Northern California’s best programs will compete in the 40-team event.
Monta Vista will host three other teams on Friday. The Matadors will oppose Amador Valley of Pleasanton at 9 a.m., while Menlo-Atherton tangles with Miramonte of Orinda. Monta Vista and M-A will switch opponents at 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, Saratoga and Evergreen Valley will square off with Piedmont and Redwood of Larkspur in a similar format on the Falcons’ courts.
At Cupertino, the Pioneers and Willow Glen each will contend with Head-Royce of Oakland and Acalanes of Lafayette. Cupertino and Willow Glen will return on Saturday at 9 a.m., the Pioneers hosting Northgate of Walnut Creek and the Rams meeting Heritage of Brentwood. The local squads will swap opponents at 1 p.m.
Monta Vista and Saratoga will travel on Saturday. The Matadors will play at Menlo School in Atherton against Monte Vista of Danville at 9 a.m. and Dougherty Valley of San Ramon at 1 p.m. The Falcons will play at Los Altos, meeting San Ramon Valley at 9 a.m. and Buchanan of Clovis at 1 p.m.
Harker School will open tourney play against Bishop O’Dowd at Gunn in Palo Alto on Friday at 9 a.m. before facing Tamalpais at 1 p.m.
Buchanan is the only team not from the Central Coast Section or North Coast Section.
