From flag football to discussing self-esteem, members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley are listing the reasons why they love the club in a new online campaign.

In hopes of raising $25,000 by Nov. 25, the campaign will revolve around the theme of 25: 25 reasons youth love the club, 25 reasons why staff and volunteers love working with the club, and 25 reasons why community members support the organization.

The timing of the “25 Reasons” campaign coincides with the Thanksgiving holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

“We live each day in gratitude and joy for what we are able to give to our club members,” said Dana Fraticelli, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley. “We want to share why we do what we do and how important it is that these kids have a safe and positive place to learn, grow, and achieve their goals.

“We know that the generous spirit of the community will shine through in support of the club when they hear the amazing stories from our kids, staff and volunteers.”

At the George Miner Elementary School Boys and Girls Clubhouse, site director Marynoelyn Jacob said the numerous after-school programs give the area’s youth something consistent to look forward to.

“The biggest thing for me is when we bring back sixth-graders who have been promoted because that shows they really want to be here and hang out,” Jacob said. “That just justifies everything that we do.”

For 70 years, the organization has been providing after-school and summer programs for youth in predominantly underserved communities with a mission to inspire and empower all young people.
