Armed robbery–July 20, 7:02 p.m. E. Persian Drive. A man was walking along the street when he was approached by an unknown person, who produced a handgun and stole the man’s wallet and a gold chain from around his neck.
Attempted armed robbery–July 18, 2:11 a.m. N. Fair Oaks Avenue. A man was walking in the parking lot of an apartment complex when he was approached by an unknown person who produced a handgun and demanded money. He indicated he did not have any money, and the unknown person walked away.
Recovered vehicle–July 17, 2:14 p.m. 200 block of Commercial Street. A stolen 1998 Honda Civic was recovered.
Recovered vehicle–July 16, 11:04 p.m. Gail and Gary avenuea. A stolen 1997 Honda Civic was recovered.
Fatal accident–July 16, 9:01 p.m. Mary Avenue. Police and fire units responded on a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision. Personnel discovered the pedestrian on the roadway with serious injuries. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and subsequently died from the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and was not arrested or cited. The Sunnyvale DPS Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision.
Residential burglary–July 16, 5:09 p.m. Central Avenue. Two unknown people entered a neighbor’s back yard. Respondong officers saw them exiting the house. The two fled on foot once they saw the police. After a brief chase, both were apprehended. Police searched an vehicle associated with the crime and found property taken from other residential burglaries that occurred earlier in the day. Both subjects were booked into county jail.
Simple assault–July 16, 11:31 a.m. Candlewood Court. After a verbal altercation, a brother pushed his sister to the ground, injuring her back. She was taken to the hospital via ambulance. The brother fled in his car before officers arrived.
Auto theft–July 16, 10:16 a.m. W. 1200 block of Washington Avenue. A 2000 Honda Civic was stolen.
Residential burglary–July 16, 9 a.m. Remington Drive. An unknown person entered the apartment by forcing open a kitchen window. It was unknown what was taken from the apartment.
Residential burglary–July 16, 9 a.m. Los Arboles Avenue. An unknown person entered the residence and stole electronics and jewelry.
Recovered vehicle–July 16, 7:08 a.m. 500 block of E. El Camino Real. A stolen 1999 Honda Civic from San Jose was found.
Found property–July 14, 2 p.m. W. El Camino Real. A small yellow balloon containing 0.3 grams of black tar heroin was found in the bathroom of a car dealership. The owner called the police and requested officers take possession of the balloon. It was taken to DPS headquarters for disposal.
Petty theft–July 14, 7:30 a.m. Old San Francisco Road. An unknown person stole a radio from an unlocked 1990 Honda Accord.
Recovered vehicle–July 13, 3:56 p.m. Lawrence Station Road. A 2001 Cadillac El Dorado was recovered within Sunnyvale.
Vandalism–July 13, 8:52 a.m. Mango Avenue. An unknown person climbed an 8-foot chain link fence and entered the pool area of Sunnyvale Middle School. The person broke and damaged several pieces of equipment in the pool area and tossed everything into the pool that wasn’t bolted down.
Auto burglary–July 12, 3:35 p.m. Lawrence Expressway. An unknown person broke into a 2014 Chrysler 300 and stole a scientific calculator, checkbooks, a U.S. passport, an Apple iPod, a credit card and the title to a red Honda.
Recovered vehicle–July 12, 1:50 p.m. San Jose. A stolen 1990 Acura Integra was recovered.
Residential burglary–July 11, 4:42 p.m. Tasman Drive. An unknown person removed a side window of a home and entered. The person stole passports, a Social Security card, Bank of America safe deposit box key, birth/marriage/baptism certificates, one diamond ring, a Bank of America checkbook and miscellaneous jewelry.
Residential burglary–July 11, 4:29 p.m. Iberis Court. An unknown person used a patio chair to gain access to a small, elevated bathroom window. The screen was cut and the window, which had been closed but unlocked, was opened. The person stole $950 in U.S. currency, an heirloom pearl necklace, pearl earrings and miscellaneous jewelry.
