MORGAN HILL (BCN)

Three men suffered major to minor injuries in a collision on U.S. Highway 101 in Morgan Hill on Tuesday afternoon, California Highway Patrol officials said today.

At around 2:30 p.m., a 38-year-old Moraga man was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion on southbound Highway 101 in the No. 2 lane north of East Dunne Avenue, according to the CHP.

The man was driving the Ford at speeds of about 60 to 65 mph and started to veer to the far left lane and into the center median, CHP officials said.

The left side of his car crashed into a guardrail separating the northbound and southbound lanes, then he made a sudden right turn that sent his vehicle across the southbound lanes, according to the CHP.

Behind him was a 26-year-old Union City man driving a 2014 Kenworth semitruck traveling at 55 mph, which hit the passenger side of the Ford, CHP officials said.

The collision caused the sedan to face southwest on the lanes, according to the CHP.

A 57-year-old Hollister man was driving a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am in the No. 3 lane at 65 mph and the front of his vehicle struck the Ford, CHP officials said.

The driver of the Ford was transported to Regional Medical Center in San Jose for major injuries.

The truck driver suffered moderate injuries and the Pontiac driver suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision and no arrests were made, the CHP said.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
